What is a systems archetype? A systems archetype is a well-defined structure which exhibits a distinct pattern of behavior and has a very recurring nature across multiple disciplines of science. Well defined strategies have been developed for addressing the structures associated with each of the Systems Archetypes. According to authors of the Fifth Discipline Fieldbook, Archetypes are accessible tools with which managers can quickly construct credible and consistent hypothesis about governing forces of their systems.
